People are often puzzled by my bibliography. They can't see the thread connecting a children's book about a treasure hunt, a satirical send-up of modern life, and an epic adventure across time and space. But to me, it's simple. Every story I write, no matter how whimsical or witty, is about the same thing: love.

It's about the love that connects us—to a lost toad, to a friend in a far-off world, to this strange, beautiful desert I call home. It's about the stubborn, hopeful love for a world we're still trying to understand, and for the people we haven't quite figured out how to be to make it better. My satirical humor? That's just love wearing its armor, fighting for a little more sense and a little less nonsense.

So, whether you're eight or eighty, if you believe that every quest—from finding a friend to saving a planet—is ultimately a search for connection, then you've found your storyteller. I'm just out here, under the vast southwestern sky, writing love letters to the universe in every way I can find.
